Now that our garlic is planted and mulched, it's time to do an update on our production. This year we planted 13 varieties. Music, German Extra Hardy, Leningrad, Georgia Fire, Georgia Crystal, and a local selection awaiting a name (all porcelain); Russian Red, German Red, and Spanish Roja (Rocambole); Chesnok Red (Purple Stripe); Ajo Rojo (Creole), Godfather's Italian (Artichoke); Korean Mountain (Asiatic). So we officially will have 6 garlic families to represented in those 13 varieties to offer more diversity in the flavors offered from our farm.
Now that planting is done it was also time to look at our harvest data. Since there isn't a lot of information available for garlic growing in North Dakota, we decided to post some of the information we have gathered on our blog.
