One of my favorite fall projects is planting garlic. Why do I love it so much? Because it is the ONLY thing we have to plant at that time! The weather is cool, and I don't feel the stressed urgency like I do with spring planting.
As of tonight, 3/4 of our garlic crop for next year is in the ground. Since we enjoyed growing it last year and were able to sell it all, we decided to grow even more next year. We will now have eight varieties of garlic, which we have researched and selected for their unique qualities. Some store longer, some taste better, some have huge cloves (less peeling!!) and some we want to compare against each other. We hope to come up with a good offering of varieties. Gladly for me, my dear husband took over the site prep and planning. I procured the new seed and together we planted.
